TalentOS Is Out of Beta

TalentOS has run as a beta since August. Today that label comes off: the app is generally available to anyone with a Google account and a job to apply for.

This post says what "out of beta" means in practice, what changed while the beta ran, what each plan includes, and what I am committing to now that people are paying for it.

What changes today

  • No invite codes, no waitlist. Sign in with Google and you are in. The private-beta gate that asked for an invite is gone.
  • Starter is free and needs no card. Paste a job ad, upload your CV, tailor it from your own experience, and track every application in one pipeline. That stays free.
  • Standard and Pro passes are on sale. A Standard pass is $15 NZD and a Pro pass is $25 NZD. Each is a single 30-day pass. Nothing renews and nothing is charged again unless you buy another one.
  • The beta badge is gone from the app, and the changelog is public. Every release that changes something for candidates is listed there, with its date.

What the beta was for

I built TalentOS for my own job search first, so the beta was the first time other people's CVs, stories and interview answers went through it. That showed up problems I would not have found alone. A few that are now fixed, all listed in the changelog:

  • You are charged only for answers you receive. A daily use or a trial is counted when the result reaches you. A debrief with too few notes is refused before anything is charged, and an empty result is refunded.
  • Stories keep only your own numbers. A STAR story written from your notes or an interview retrospective no longer gains a figure you did not give it. If your notes have no numbers, the story has none either.
  • A simpler first run. A new account sees three getting-started steps once: add your CV, write down a career win, add a job. The sample demo can be exited from any page.
  • Fewer surprises on a phone. The job form stays put while you type, dialogs return focus to where you were, and each page has one name everywhere.

The biggest lesson was about the gate itself. For several weeks of the beta, a sign-in without an invite ended at a waitlist screen. Opening the door was the single change that mattered most, so the door stays open.

What each plan includes

Starter (free)

  • Rule-based CV tailoring from your uploaded documents, with clean PDF and Word exports.
  • The full opportunity pipeline and Kanban board.
  • Master CV upload and parsing, and the STAR Story Vault for logging your wins.
  • One free trial each of the AI tools: voice rehearsal, Flash tailoring, reverse interview and retrospective.

Standard pass ($15 NZD, 30 days)

  • AI document tailoring with Gemini Flash, plus ten Pro-model generation credits.
  • Two voice rehearsal or question drill attempts.
  • Job description extraction from a URL, the outreach studio, and the match score and competency gap audit.

Pro pass ($25 NZD, 30 days)

  • Multi-agent tailoring with rollback history, up to 40 runs a day.
  • Real-time voice mock interviews and question drills within fair-use daily limits, with scorecards and a persistent rehearsal vault.
  • Interview retrospectives, the reverse-interview studio, application memos, and the salary and multi-offer comparison tools.

The plan cards on the home page and in Help are the source of truth for what each tier includes. If this post and a plan card ever disagree, the card is right.

How paying works

A pass is a one-off purchase, not a subscription. It runs for 30 days and then stops. There is no auto-renewal, so there is nothing to cancel.

Your first pass purchase, and your first upgrade from Standard to Pro, are covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee. Email admin@talentos.nz within 7 days of that purchase for a full refund.

I wrote in the letter from the builder why there are paid plans at all: the AI features call large language models that cost money every time they run, and the passes cover those bills and the infrastructure. That has not changed.

Your data, now that you are paying

  • Your career documents, STAR stories and voice audio are never used to train, fine-tune or improve AI foundation models, by TalentOS or by Google under its paid Gemini API terms.
  • TalentOS does not store your raw interview audio on its servers. A copy of each rehearsal turn is kept only in your own browser so you can replay it, and is deleted after 7 days.
  • You can export your whole account as JSON at any time, or delete the account and its data, from Settings.
  • There are no advertising pixels or session-recording tools on the site.

The full details are in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

What stays the same

TalentOS is still built and run by one person in Auckland. It will keep changing, and the changelog will keep saying what changed. If something is wrong or missing, the Feedback page inside the app and support@talentos.nz both reach me.

Two things are worth repeating now that the beta label is off. The interview tools are practice simulations: a scorecard tells you how an answer measured against a rubric, not whether a company will hire you. And everything the app drafts is a draft. You review, edit and approve every line before it goes to an employer.

To everyone who used TalentOS during the beta, reported what broke, and told me what was confusing: thank you. The app is better for it.

Put This Into Practice

Paste a job ad and TalentOS tailors your CV to it, with each bullet point linked back to your own experience so you can review it before you apply. The Starter plan is free and needs no card.
